Most of the doctors are part time so continuity of care is difficult with an ongoing problem. I get fed up explaining my condition to several doctors. The appointment system is awful. You have to phone the surgery early, listen to a long, tedious recorded message, join the queue and when you get through you are told to wait for a doctor to phone. When you get the call, you explain the problem as best you can over the phone and more often than not do not get a face to face appointment. I don't feel a proper assessment can be made over the phone in many cases. I sometimes feel fobbed off and it puts me off calling, despite having a lot of pain. There is no permanent male doctor.
They need phone training. Held in a queue for 20 minutes, they then pick up the phone and all I hear is somebody typing, I'm shouting "hello" down the phone... to no response.... after a few minutes I disconnect, then I'm back on hold for 30 mins. Thanks a lot guys.Update - I am regularly put on hold for AGES. I don't think they answer their phones sometimes. The only way to progress the queue is when people give up holding which is what happens with us regularly. If they can't cope they should offer a callback or get more staff.Another thing - when ordering prescriptions it's a guessing game as to whether they have arrived at the chemist or not. For instance their intranet shows it's been processed but chemist says no...and how hard would it be to be sent an automated email saying this is done??
Not bad. The heating is soooo high in the waiting room though.

What is your phone system. You cannot get through just left in a queuing system of 10 people. This seriously needs sorting out. Older people cannot sit for 1/2 hour or more waiting to be answered. How many people do you have to answer the phone ?
